F1: Father's First

For over ten years I've been a coach. For seven of those years, I've been a father. I've dreamed for years, to one day be able to help others just like me. I want to help men who become fathers and have trouble finding time to take care of their own bodies. 

My life has been wild, and I’ve had plenty of ups and downs as a result. I’ve gone from athlete to fat guy, to skinny guy, to health professional, then on to the biggest role of my life—Dad. Now, most of my waking hours are spent working with other driven adults, listening to other men’s stories and helping them overcome, often, serious health concerns.

After I clock out every day, I race home to play with two much smaller and sometimes wilder versions of the grown-ups I have just left. As much as it is my responsibility to teach my two sons about life, they teach me in return. It turns out, fatherhood teaches you much more about life than childhood does. I’m sure your experience isn’t much different than mine. Balancing your career, sanity and health with your new parental responsibilities is an art form.

As a result of drinking the “deadly cocktail” of fitness plus fatherhood, I’ve become abnormally curious about men’s health and how to avoid the seemingly inevitable pits of mid-life low testosterone resulting in poor health. The latest research shows that men are signing up for hormone replacement therapy at younger ages than ever before. The next generation will be the first to have a shorter life expectancy than their parents – all despite the fact that gym memberships are constantly rising. People are actually exercising more but are also enduring more stress-related illness. I can’t help but wonder- can I be a part of the solution?

Module 1

The Hero Mentality, Hyenas & Testosterone

This Module covers the BIG PICTURE. As father's we are all trying to do a great job. But sometimes we end up putting ourselves 4th or 5th on the list and our health suffers. 

This module will help you assess where you are and what is standing in your way. 

Module 2

Exercise for Father's

Life is better in a lot of ways as a dad but our bodies do not respond the same way they did in the past. You can't just pick up one of your old weightlifting routines from college and expect it to work. 

You need something sustainable, effective and easy to think about. Module 2 implements strategies for weightlifting and conditioning that makes sense. 

Module 3

Nutrition for Father's

After working for a decade as a personal trainer and nutrition coach I know exactly what's standing between you and the results you've always wanted...and it's not a PDF. 

Meal planning is part psychology and part physiology and this module covers both. You need to understand some fundamentals about nutrition but also have actionable steps to make sure you can ADHERE to a plan. Module has exactly that. 

Module 4

Stress and Sleep

Everything that happens in your life involves stress. Your mood, schedule, interactions with others, environment and your response to each one of those can be related to stress. Exercise and diet can also be considered stressors on the body. 

How well you sleep and how well you manage stress can literally be the difference in your overall quality of life. Module 4 covers what stress is, how it affects your body, different types of stress and the best way to manage stress. 

Module 5

Getting the family involved

This module may be the MOST important one of all. Every good man is a product of his support system. As much as you think you are raising them, they are raising you. 

Right now, is the best time to lead your family into a healthier life as you develop the dynamics of health in your life. There are certainly better and worse ways to do it and this module covers ways you can practically include your wife and kids in the process so they can take these skills on with them the rest of their lives.
